Land Acknowledgement

HONOURING THIS TRADITIONAL TERRITORY

We at OELC-CASO acknowledge that these lands on the shores of Lake Couchiching are steeped in Indigenous history. This land is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg peoples (Also referred to as the Three Fires Confederacy including: Ojibwa, Odawa, and Pottawatomi Nations) who used this area as their traditional fishing grounds and as an important gathering place. We would also like to acknowledge the local First Nation and our neighbour, The Chippewas of Rama First Nation, who are a part of the Ojibwe Nation.
